How to Set Up Cloud Tool Libraries Between Toolpath and Fusion
Keeping tool libraries synchronized between Toolpath and Fusion eliminates duplicate work and ensures a single source of truth for your tooling data. This guide walks you through how to enable cloud libraries, link Toolpath and Fusion, and manage tool libraries so changes stay synced automatically.
Before you begin, make sure you have:
- An active Autodesk (Fusion) account
- Access to Toolpath
- Updated versions of both applications
Step 1: Enable Cloud Libraries in Fusion
- OpenFusion.
- Go toPreferences.
- UnderGeneral, selectManufacture.
- CheckEnable Cloud Libraries.
- Close Preferences.
This step is required before Toolpath can sync any libraries with Fusion.
Step 2: Connect Your Autodesk Account in Toolpath
- OpenToolpath.
- Go toPreferences.
- Scroll toIntegrations.
- ClickConnect Autodesk Cloud Account.
- Sign in with your Autodesk credentials and clickAllow.
- Select the hub you want to use (for example, your personal hub or Toolpath’s hub).
- ClickContinue.
Your Autodesk account is now connected to Toolpath.
Step 3: Sync an Existing Toolpath Library with Fusion
If you already have a Cut Config set up:
- In Toolpath, openCut Config.
- Select an existing cut config (for example,Aluminum Tool Demo).
- Go toTool Libraries.
- Click thethree dotsnext to a library.
- SelectEnable Fusion Sync.
- When prompted, clickLink Library.
Toolpath will create aToolpath Managed Librariesfolder in Fusion. The linked library will now appear there.
Step 4: Verify the Library in Fusion
- OpenFusion.
- Go to theManufactureworkspace.
- OpenTool Library.
- Make sureCloud Librariesare enabled.
- Open theClouddropdown.
- Scroll toToolpath Managed Libraries.
You should see the synced library listed there.
To test synchronization:
- In Fusion, edit a tool:
- Change the tool name (for example, add “Demo”).
- Modify a parameter such as cutter diameter.
- ClickOKto save.
- Return to Toolpath and refresh the page.
You’ll see the updated tool name and dimensions reflected automatically. Changes made in Toolpath will also sync back to Fusion the same way.
For new users or new projects:
- In Toolpath, create anew cut config.
- Name it (for example,Demo Cut Config) and select a material.
- OpenTool Libraries— there will be no libraries yet.
Export a Library from Fusion
- In Fusion, openTool Library.
- Right-click an existing library (for example, Brother core tools).
- SelectExport Libraryand save it locally.
Import into Toolpath
- Drag the exported library file into Toolpath.
- EnableFusion Sync.
- ClickLink Library.
After refreshing Fusion, the imported library will appear underToolpath Managed Libraries.
Creating a Library Using Copy & Paste
Another flexible method is building libraries directly in Fusion:
- In Toolpath, create anew empty library.
- Rename it (for example,Tormach Library).
- EnableFusion Syncand link the library.
- In Fusion, refresh the Tool Library view.
- OpenToolpath Managed Librariesand select the new empty library.
- Copy tools from an existing Fusion library.
- Paste them directly into the synced Toolpath library.
The tools are now fully synchronized.
Best Practice: Always Edit Toolpath Managed Libraries
Any changes to:
- Tool names
- Feeds and speeds
- Tool geometry
Must be made inside the Toolpath Managed Libraries folderin Fusion. This ensures both platforms stay fully synchronized.
By enabling cloud libraries and syncing Toolpath with Fusion, you eliminate conflicting tool data and manual updates. With two-way synchronization in place, you can confidently edit tools in either platform knowing everything stays up to date.
No more duplicate libraries. No more guessing which version is correct. Just one synchronized tool library powering both Toolpath and Fusion.
