How to Export Toolpath CAM to Fusion

Send generated CAM from Toolpath to Fusion with the Toolpath Add-In

Use this workflow for any part in Toolpath with generated CAM. Toolpath can send the generated setups and machining operations into a new Fusion document or into an existing Fusion document that is already open.

Before you begin:

  • Make sure you have the Toolpath Add-In for Fusion installed.
  • Open Fusion and make sure the Toolpath Add-In is running and logged in.
  • Wait for Toolpath to finish generating the CAM program. If the workspace shows Generating..., wait until Export to Fusion is available.

To export Toolpath CAM to Fusion:

  1. Open the part in Toolpath.
  2. Click Export to Fusion in the upper-right corner.
  3. In the Export to Fusion window, open the Export into dropdown.
  4. Choose where Toolpath should send the CAM:
    • Select [Create a New Document] to create a fresh Fusion file with the model, setups, and CAM operations.
    • Select an open Fusion document to import the CAM into that existing file.
  5. Click Export.
  6. Open Fusion to continue. Toolpath will send the program to the Toolpath Add-In, which imports the generated setups and machining operations into the selected destination.
  7. Edit the imported setups and operations in Fusion like any other Fusion CAM program.

If the part was originally sent from Fusion and you export back into that same document, Toolpath can populate the generated CAM onto the existing model and setups. For the full Fusion setup round trip, see Working with Existing Fusion Documents.

If Toolpath cannot connect to Fusion, make sure Fusion is open and that the Toolpath Add-In is running and logged in. Then click Retry connection in the Export to Fusion window.
