How to Create Stock Configurations
Create a Stock Configuration from the Cut Config page to define how Toolpath automatically generates stock dimensions for your parts.
Toolpath automatically generates stock for your parts based on the Stock Configuration assigned to the Cut Config. The Rounding Increment fields let you standardize results to common bar stock sizes.
The preferred way to create or edit Stock Configurations is from the Stock Configuration popout in the Cut Config page left sidebar. You do not need to leave the Cut Config page or create the stock from the Libraries section first.
To create a Stock Configuration:
- Open the Cut Config you want to update, or create a new Cut Config.
- In the left sidebar, stay on the Overview tab.
- Find the Stock Configuration field.
- Click the edit icon next to Stock Configuration to open the Stock Configuration popout.
- Click the + (New Stock Configuration) button in the popout.
- Enter a Name for the Stock Configuration. Use a name that makes the stock preference easy to recognize, such as the workholding or stock type it is meant for.
- Select a Type:
- Flat Bar for rectangular stock.
- Round Stock for cylindrical stock.
- Enter your stock preferences:
- Stock Oversize controls how much extra stock Toolpath adds around the part.
- Rounding Increment controls the final stock size increments Toolpath rounds to.
- Stock Grip Amt. controls the stock depth from the model to the stock bottom. Set this to match the depth held in your vise or fixture, plus any desired clearance from the bottom of the part to the top of the jaws.
- Click Save in the popout.
- Click Save on the unsaved changes message for the Cut Config if the new Stock Configuration selection needs to be saved to the Cut Config.
To edit an existing Stock Configuration, select it in the Stock Configuration dropdown, open the same popout, make your changes, and click Save. If the Stock Configuration is read-only, click the duplicate icon first, then edit the copy.
If you need custom stock that does not match your stock configuration settings, see How to use Solid Bodies as Custom Stock.
