Understanding Features with No Tool Match

Use feature details to understand why Toolpath marked geometry as unmachinable or selected a different tool than expected.

When Toolpath is unable to find a tool geometrically compatible for a feature, it will show the feature in red. Please see the video below to learn more about how Toolpath flags machinability issues:

When a feature cannot be machined with any of the tools available in the selected Cut Config, Toolpath will show the feature in red and highlight machinability issues on the right hand side of the Overview page.

Unmachinable features occur when Toolpath is unable to match any of the available tools to the part geometry. This happens when:

  • No tool with the correct geometry for the feature is available (i.e. no tool with a long enough length below holder or small enough diameter is eligible).
  • A tool is geometrically valid, but is ineligible because it does not have the cutting role applied (in Basic Cut Configs) or a preset mapped to the cutting role, or type of operation, required for the feature (with Advanced Mapping Enabled).
